Gary Spinner’s path to Georgia Tech began in electronics and semiconductors, with roles at IBM and Intel before joining the Institute in 1994. Over three decades, he rose from cleanroom technician to director of operations, expanding facilities, modernizing infrastructure, and creating hands-on opportunities for students. He also developed the SUMS platform to streamline cleanroom access and continues to drive growth in Georgia Tech’s semiconductor ecosystem.
The Autonomous Research for Materials program is working to expand data collection and streamline experimentation using robotics to unlock next-generation technologies.
