Gary Spinner’s path to Georgia Tech began in electronics and semiconductors, with roles at IBM and Intel before joining the Institute in 1994. Over three decades, he rose from cleanroom technician to director of operations, expanding facilities, modernizing infrastructure, and creating hands-on opportunities for students. He also developed the SUMS platform to streamline cleanroom access and continues to drive growth in Georgia Tech’s semiconductor ecosystem.
Graduate apprentices gain experience with advanced instrumentation, mentoring, and facility operations while supporting the research ecosystem that serves Georgia Tech and its partners.
